AROUND THE BLOGOSPHERE #8

These are the places of interest I've found in my recent BLOG HOPPING journeys!

ADOPTION VOICES has been a wonderful site for getting in contact with a lot of other adopters, adoptees and birth mothers. I like being able to share Samuel's story and to possible calm people's fears about open adoption. There are groups for domestic adoption, international adoption, birth parents, fostering to adopt, older child adoption, adopting later in life, trans racial adoption, fundraising, special needs adoption, how to avoid scams and many more. You should check it out.

I QUESTIONS a place to ask questions and get reliable answers about: MARRIAGE AND RELATIONSHIPS, PARENTING, HEALTHY LIVING, MONEY, CAREER AND FAITH. I love this site.

ALPHABET PHOTOGRAPHY is a beautiful site. On their sidebar they say, "Everyone wants to know how Alphabet Photography got started, it started with a children’s book...Photographer Jennifer Blakeley was inspired to start photographing different objects that looked like letters of the alphabet after looking at Stephen T. Johnson’s book “Alphabet City”. This book took Jen on a quest to find all 26 letters of the alphabet. After talking photos of everything including current signage and letters made from rocks at the beach she thought she needed to make it more challenging and that day Alphabet Photography was born. On that day Jennifer decided her rule would be to only photograph objects found in their natural surroundings that were unstaged. That changed everything, it truly became a challenge and a passion. Jennifer had to train her eyes to see letters where no one could see them. She travelled extensively throughout North America to find the perfect photographs. Each photograph alone is a beautiful piece of art and when put together to form a word makes a stunning masterpiece."

PLAID WITH POLKA DOTS is a cute blog by a "thirty-something infertile woman walking the adoption road and hoping to someday be a mother." In her most recent post, entitled, "How I Thought it Would be VS. How it Is," she asks, "What I'm wondering... did any of you consider an international adoption first? Was domestic adoption your first choice?"

MOTHERS RAISING BOYS is a great new site I found for, "How to raise your sons into fantastic men." Some of her most recent post titles are: What is the Problem With Our Boys and Men?, Brain Development in Girls and Boys and Chemicals and Boys Infertility.

TMI ALERT! DO NOT READ ABOUT THE NEXT SITE IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED BY BODY ISSUES THAT YOU FEEL SHOULD BE KEPT PRIVATE!

THE KEEPER "is a natural gum rubber cup and The Keeper Mooncup is a medical grade silicone cup - both similar to the material that is used in baby bottle nipples - that is worn internally, holding (instead of absorbing) monthly menstrual flow"....

I'M SORRY BUT THIS IS TOTALLY BIZARRE TO ME!

I'VE ALSO HEARD OF WOMEN MAKING THEIR OWN SANITARY NAPKINS AND A NATURAL APPROACH TO RESPONDING TO BABIES' ELIMINATION NEEDS.....MEANING THAT THEY GO TOTALLY DIAPER-FREE! I CAN'T IMAGINE TRYING ANY OF THESE. IS IT JUST ME.....????

Tracey, thank you for mentioning my blog. I'm so glad you like it and I hope others will enjoy it as well. Being a mother of 4 boys, I wanted the world to know that having boys is a joy - they aren't wild and crazy (like people assume from all the stereotypes about boys)- they're fun, energetic, loving, and creative. They're a blessing!

Some people have very sensitive skin, and those options you wrote about are best for them. I have a cousin who is a SAHM that sews and sells cloth pads and they are way more comfortable than the disposable kind. Plus, the cup eliminates cramping. Seriously! On heavy days it's the only thing I can use. Sorry to be tmi but, yes, "normal" people do use those options. It's more comfortable and saves money. I also use cloth diapers for my baby, though, so it's probably no surprise that I'd be more inclined to try other cloth products:-)
