A-Z BLOGGING CHALLENGE: B is for BOOKS

I was never a big reader as a little kid, but in middle school I read "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret" by Judy Blume, and I was hooked. Now I devour about a book a week, sometimes more. In 2010 I started keeping track of the books I read.

From that list the ones I would highly recommend are  Nefertiti by Michelle Moran and Eleventh Guest by Brodie and Brock Thoene. The Eleventh Guest is actually a wonderfully series called the A.D. Chronicles that starts with First Light.

From my 2011 list I would recommend, The Hangman's Daughter by Oliver Potzsch, The Centurion's Wife by Janette Oke, The Concubine's Daughter by Pai Kit Fai, The Damascus Way by Davis Bunn, The Help by Kathryn Stockett and 11/22/63 by Stephen King.

Finally, from this year's list I have loved, A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness and The Bride Collector by Ted Dekker.

Is the bride collector similar to any of Ted Dekkers other books?

I always find it difficult to decide whether to read his books or not as some I really like and others are just a big let down.

Reading is fun :)

That's a lot of books! I've read The Help too and would also recommend it.

I'm interested to know what you liked about the Stephen King novel. I was intrigued to read it, but I've read some mixed reviews. Some say that it kind of lost its way in the middle and frazzled out at the end.

I've read a couple of Ted Dekker novels. Have you read SKIN? That's my favorite of his that I've read so far.

I was never big into reading as a child either, then about 7 years ago I hit a really lonely point in my life and needed.... SOMETHING.

And books were it.

I will look into some of your recommendations. :)

Loving your blog posts so far! Will definitely be following. I study English and American Literature at university so I get a through a fair few books, about 2 biggies a week. However I am finishing this year, so I hope to start branching out and reading different genres, and start my own list. Congrats on the blog, can't wait to read more.
