THE EYES HAVE IT!

A big thank you to all the wonderful nurses and doctors at UNM CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL. Sam had his eye surgery yesterday morning and we were home by around 11 a.m.

Sam wasn't too pleased to have to put on the over-sized pajamas, or the looks of this thing...

....and honestly, who can blame him. I wouldn't want to be in that thing either, but once they gave Sam some "happy juice," so that he would separate from us without crying, all went smoothly. THAT STUFF IS AMAZING!

Waking up from the anesthesia DID NOT go so smoothly. He was VERY WOOZY and cried a lot. He wanted to rub his eye, which is very blood shot right not, and got VERY ANGRY when I wouldn't let him, but a little more "happy juice" and 2 popsicles later and we were ready to got home.

The ride went well and he actually ate when we got home. We have a check-up appointment at 11:15 today, but all seems to be going fine so far.

I got the first eye drop in last night because he didn't know what was coming. By late afternoon/early evening time, he was up and running, although a little less balanced, which they said to expect. I am hoping his balance is better today.

Thanks for all the prayers, calls and love!

BACHELORETTE 2011...week 6

Ashley Hebert and her Bachelores went to Hong Kong this week.

The host, Chris Harrison, told Ashley that Bentley was in Hong Kong and instead of leaving her with the ... (dot dot dot....like things may work out after you leave the show), he finally put a . (period) and she feels she can move on now. She still talked about him an awful lot, though.

Lucas (30): the DUD, got the first one-on-one date. He wanted a dance, a kiss and a ROSE and he got them all. I don't see the connection and I saw no romance, so I'm not sure what she sees in him, at all.

Then Ashley had a group date where here and the guys DRAGON BOAT RACED. When they got back to the beach a Chinese couple who helped them got engaged right there. That was more romantic then anything I've seen on this show. Anyway, later on Ames came out of his shell and they made out in the elevator, but she ended up giving the rose to Ryan.

None of the guys like him, but I do.
JP (34): got the last one-on-one date. The last date she had with him was the night Bentley left and she felt like she owed it to him to tell him that Bentley showed up in Hong Kong. She told him how up to that point she hadn't let her feelings go for him, but that their conversation gave her closure. He was fine with it. He got a ROSE too.

The next night at the rose ceremony Ashley told the rest of the guys and some were really pissed off. In fact...

Mickey (31): decided Ashley had lied to them and left the show at that moment. I actually applaud him for taking matters into his own hands.

Ashley was very upset and didn't expect the guys to be so mad with her, but the rose ceremony continued and the other guys she kept were:

Ben F. (28): I think this guy may be the last one standing, even though I don't see the connection.

Constantime (30): DUD
Ames (31): DUD

The only guy sent home was...

Blake (27)...another that I had ruled out a long time ago.

Next week they all go to Taiwan. I don't see anything permanent coming out of this season, though.

A GREAT PAIR OF SCISSORS...AND OTHER COOL STUFF!

My new favorite online place to shop....BEYOND PLAY!

I just bought these scissors for Sam for $6.99. They are so cool. We can develop his muscle coordination and have fun.

After getting the free catalog...I now want...

...these Bubble Pals for $10.95...

...this Gears Building Set for $26.95...

and these cool Finger Crayons for only $6.95 to develop fine motor skills.

This Round Seesaw looks like loads of fun, but it is way way beyond my budget.

Now I need some ideas for getting Sam to brush his teeth. He chews on the finger brush and doesn't like the bristle brushes. Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated.

DEPRESSION ERA POEM THAT STILL APPLIES TODAY

THE ROOSTER AND THE HEN

Said the Little Red Rooster, "Believe me things are tough!"
Seems the worms are getting scarcer and I cannot find enough,
What's become of all those fat ones? It's a mystery to me.
There were thousands through that rainy spell,
But now, where can they be?"
But the Old Black Hen who heard him didn't grumble or complain,
She had lived through lots of dry spells;
She had lived through floods of rain.
She picked a new and undug spot, The ground was hard and firm,
"I must go to the worms," she said. "The worms won't come to me."
The Rooster vainly spent his day,
Through habit, by the ways
Where fat round worms had passed in squads back in the rainy days.
When nightfall found him supperless, he growled in accents rough,
"I'm hungry as a fowl can be, conditions sure are tough."
But the Old Black Hen hopped to her perch
And dropped her eyes to sleep
And murmured in a drowsy tone, "Young man, hear this and weep.
I'm full of worms and happy
For I've eaten like a pig.
The worms were there as always
But, boy I had to dig!"

EYE SURGERY BEFORE THE AGE OF 3! WOW!

So, the little man will have his eye surgery next Monday at 7:30 a.m. He only has to have the right eye done and the procedure will only be about 20 minutes. Sam won't want to open his eye and it will be bloodshot too. He will not be a happy camper for most of the day, but the doctor says except for giving him some ibuprofen for the discomfort, he should be basically back to normal by that evening. The left eye is the one we notice going in toward his nose, but the right in the one they are going to do the surgery on. Weird, huh? They want to loosen the muscle to match the other eye. So hopefully, this will be done and over with and in a few years, he won't even remember it. Keep the prayers coming!

BACHELORETTE 2011...week 5

Ashley Hebert is the new Bachelorette this season. They all went to Chiang Mai, Thailand this week.

Ben F. (28): got the first one-on-one date this week. I still DO NOT see anything in this guy. Ugghh! They walked around a market and had dinner and kissed, but I did not see sparks or anything.

The group date was much more exiting. They did Thai-Boxing, I am assuming to impress Ashley. Blake won against Lucas, JP won against Mickey, Constantine won against Nick and Ryan won against Ames, but poor Ames ended up going to the hospital with a mild concussion.

Not sure why, but Blake (27) ended up getting a rose at dinner that night. Maybe, out of pity, I guess.

The interesting part of the show was when...

William (30 and...

Ben C. (28), had a two-on-one date and after a little raft ride, Ashley pulled William (who was in my top 2 at the beginning of this season....) aside to have a chat and he TOTALLY threw Ben UNDER THE BUS, saying that Ben was ready to go home so he could try internet dating. Immediately, Ashley sent him home without even getting his side of the story. Then William thought he was in the clear, but that night at dinner, Ashley sent him home too! William turned into a major butt-head. His chat with the camera, at the end, was very depressing. He talked about climbing back under his rock. I think the producers should put him on suicide watch or something.

Then at the rose ceremony Ashley talked to the host, Chris Harrison about Bentley again and how she needs closure.

So beside Ben F. and Blake the other guys she ended up keeping are:

Ryan P. (31): who is still a little weird, but I like him overall.

JP (34): He is now my front runner. They have major chemistry, he is very down to earth and seems genuinely interested in Ashley.
 Lucas (30): DUD
Constantime (30): DUD
Ames (31): DUD
Mickey (31): jury is still out on this one.

This is the only one she sent home....

Nick (26): DUD...no great loss!

Now you may have thought because Bentley left the show we were done with his drame....NO SUCH LUCK!

The preview for next week showed that he is back in Thailand and back in the running! The guys are UNDERSTANDABLY PISSED and some are calling Ashley a liar and act like they are willing to walk themselves. So it should be very interesting!

How can success be measured in a man?

By the net worth of his fortune ?
By the possessions he displays ?
By the vastness of the land he owns or
by the notoriety he's achieved thru great deeds,
if only to satisfy his own ego or greed.

If I could choose something to make me successful
it would be, to be thought of as an honest man
a caring partner and father, and at the end
to have but one good friend, and a loving family
who will morn my passing and remember me
not as great, wealthy, or notable but, only as an honorable man.
