TWO SENSE TUESDAYS #29...Attending Church

Being a new mother I seem to get a lot of advice, which can be helpful, but is also very frustrating when it's from people who are insistent that their way is the BEST way. I also get advice (because I'm an adoptive mother) from those who think that my son is just a stand-in until I get "the real thing."

Each week I will post a new question. I'd love it if you'd play along and offer us new mothers your pearls of wisdom.

HERE IS THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:

What would you do/say if your child said, "I don't want to go to church and you can't make me!"

This is a very good question and i will keep my answer very short and simple.. I have practiced it over and over for the day any of my kids decide to give me that.

"As long as you are living under this roof there is one thing you HAVE to do and that is going to church EVERY Sunday possible. If you think or would like otherwise give me a GOOD explanation as to why should i should not expect this of you"

This is what i've come up with so far, maybe things change when they actually do start giving me grief about it. The trick is to start saying it to them as of now so they know what to expect always..Just my thought

God Bless you :)

I was actually just thinking about this one yesterday. Both Dave and I grew up in church and while I'm not sure about Dave I know I was required to be in church when the doors opened. But being a pastor's kid that makes sense. But as an adult I think we both went through a rebelious stage where we just didn't want to go because of being required to go.
So while I haven't discussed this with my hubby yet I imagine that if they really just don't want to go we won't make them, that Sunday. But those times would be rare. Sometimes having a special family time instead of attending church is okay.
And forcing them to go can only hurt them when it comes to things like church.
