16 AND PREGNANT!

I've been watching some episodes of 16 AND PREGNANT on MTV.COM. These are my first impressions as I watched these episodes.

Maci is immature...so so young....riding a quad when your ready to burst...are you kidding me?!? Her "man," Ryan, is just a "boy" and sex was just fun at the time. He's obviously not ready, willing, nor able to be a real daddy. He's still into playing with his friends. She's upset because mom and dad won't pay for her dance class. She says she's an overachiever....all good if you don't get pregnant at 16. Ryan is so flat...no emotion in his voice....Ugghhh...I am so frustrated watching this show.

Farrah broke up with the babies daddy because he was jealous and immature...but he was great enough to have sex with. Her parents saying you shouldn't have anything to do with the X...are you kidding me...now is too late to be a parent that has rules....I have to quit cheer because everyone is mean to me...has a new boyfriend who stands her up...oh poor her. I'm glad Farrah's mom said..."I need my sleep, no I can't help you much at night." She wants to be independent....are you kidding me...she can't handle things while living at home, how will she handle things on her own? Her mom is too controlling though...she wants to teach her child what to look for in a good relationship.....how about getting to know someone, without sex....grow up, get a job, get married and then have a baby.

I am disgusted! Why in the world would Amber go for this guy Gary...way too old for her....and he "doesn't like condoms." Really that still works....girls still buy that!? "I didn't even want kids" and "I was a total party girl!" Really? Shocker there! Their tight on cash, but Gary buys a PS3?! HUH!?! They spend a day at the library researching baby names....maybe if they had spent as much time discussing the consequences of sex, they wouldn't be in this position.

I think all mom's should watch this show with their teenagers, boys and girls and really discuss the consequences of their actions. All choices have consequences. What do you want for your future? What do you need to do so that you get there? Will having sex with your boyfriend/girlfriend get you there? How do you think your life would change if you had a child now?

THESE GIRLS REALLY HAVE NO CLUE...HOW DO WE GET THROUGH TO THESE YOUNG KIDS? I KNOW I OWE MY SON TO A YOUNG GIRL WHO MADE A MISTAKE, BUT REALLY...IT'S SO OBVIOUS THESE GIRLS REALLY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT A REAL MAN IS SUPPOSE TO BE LIKE...THEY SELL THEMSELVES SO SHORT. NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE ANY GOALS OR PLANS! AS PARENTS, WHAT IS THE PIECE WE FORGETTING TO TEACH? WHAT IS THE PART THAT THE CHILDREN JUST AREN'T GETTING?

Tracy, I'd be interested to hear your opinion on the episode with Catelynn and Tyler. They choose adoption for their baby.

I hope you will follow through and watch the "Reunion/Finale" episode if you havent already. From what I recall, all the girls/couples agreed that they shouldnt have had sex and/or should have made better choices. While they arent as hard on themselves as you have chosen to be, they do admit their faults and mistakes fairly freely. Most of them showed true maturity and growth from the experiences they were living. The adoption episode (Caitlynn and Tyler?) is saved on our DVR. My husband and I both cried, as the situation was so similar to our own...right down to the gift of matching bracelets for the bmom and amom. I have heard so many positive remarks and comments in regards to adoption since that episode aired and many of our fmaily and friends watched. "Those kids were SOO strong!" was the most common sentiment. Funny that we gained respect for the very kids you have such contempt for.

As both an adoptive momma and a birthmom who gave birth at the age of 16, I cannot help but think your comments were a bit harsh. But, I also feel that we are all entitled to our own opinions. I thought the show was a pretty accurate demonstration of the hardships that teens face once they find themselves in that situation. I am glad MTV chose to portray the good, the bad, and the ugly. As for Caitlynn and Tyler, that show brought me to tears, and I am soo proud of them!
