Please parents.....

Please parents, talk to your child's teachers about major things that have gone on in their lives. We don't want to invade your privacy, but we do need information to better understand, educate and help your children to grow and thrive.

Imagine if you had been diagnosed with any of the following:

1. PTSD

2. OCD

3. Bipolar

Or that....

1. you were sexually molested by your dad or ....

2. physically abused by your dad or ...

3. you had been in a treatment center twice (3 months each time) for 2 suicide attempts by the time you were 8 years old

Now imagine that you have been through all of the above.

* Wouldn't you want your mother to inform the teacher of all of it so she.....knew what you had been through and could be more understanding of your moods.

* Wouldn't you want your mother to inform the teacher of all of it so she.....was better prepared and would know not to have a male substitute cover for her.

* Wouldn't you want your mother to inform the teacher of all of it so she.....could have started some services for you earlier in the year so that you would be better prepared for middle school.

So, I ask again.....Please parents, talk to your child's teachers about major things that have gone on in their lives. We don't want to invade your privacy, but we do need information to better understand, educate and help your children to grow and thrive.

How tragic. Yes, I can imagine that knowing those things would make it easier on the teacher to be uber-helpful and sensitive to moods, reactions, etc. Sorry you even had to post this. How awful.
