Wasting Formula....but I don't care!

Yesterday, Samuel had a normal day as far as awake time. We were at Grandma's playing cards and in the afternoon he slept from 4-6 p.m. He was sleeping soundly, but I got him up at that point anyway. Late afternoon naps are not good for him or me...because he won't go to sleep at a decent hour after having had so much rest.

We brought him home and he was awake until about 9:15 p.m. We promptly went to bed, thinking that at about 2 a.m he'd be awake again. True to form he started to cry at 2:15 a.m. I got up and got his bottle ready and walked in to get him....WAIT....he's fast asleep....no way! Way!

I put the bottle in the refrigerator and went back to bed....not expecting to fall asleep. He'll make up again any moment....(NOTE: The first couple months we have checked on him and picked him up first and by the time the bottle is ready he's at 900 decibels, so we usually get the bottle ready first, so he doesn't fully come out of wake mode and he also goes back down quicker.)

....3 hours later 5:15 a.m....!!!...he makes fussy noises again....ok this is really it....I make said bottle up again....go in to get him....he's fast asleep....ARE YOU $%^&* ME! It's now 5:41 am and still no wakey, wakey! See for yourself...the picture above is proof that he is still sleeping!

I only reheat a formula and rice cereal bottle twice then it just looks nasty....it's totally ok...I don't mind wasting a little formula, if it means a full nights sleep. (NOTE: Tonight I will try checking on him first. I wonder if we can get 2 nights in a row like this?)

Ya Hoo, Mama!!!

Good call on letting him try to work it out first. He may still need a bottle occasionally, but it sounds like you may have reached the peak, and are now on the downhill side of the night-time feedings.
