POST 2 - A walk down Memory Lane: Let's Go Down Town!

A postcard from presumably the 1950's?!?

Corner of Park Avenue and Vernon...about 2 weeks ago.

This is the Harris Bank, the one that Richard threw a fit in when he was 5 years old!

Richard: "Mom, we can't stay here, it's too boooring! I have to lay down."

Fran: "Richard! Get up! You can't sleep here in the middle of the lobby! You're embarrassing me!!"

Finally, this is Wienicke's building on Vernon, now home to a women's dress shop. In 1978 it was a hardware store connected to a toy store. Notice the black, vertical Wienicke's sign.

This is where Richard nagged his mom for 6 months of passed due allowances. Mom, not realising the toy store was connected, gave him the entire amount, to shut him up. Little did she know, he went next door and blew the entire $40 on Star Wars toys. He was thinking pretty highly of himself for getting one over on old mom, but he didn't see an allowance for the next 4 years.

Family Members: E-Mail me if you there are any pictures that you would like a copy of. Example: Richard, send me picture 3 from post 1.

Love Richard
