A CRAZY 3 DAYS

If you remember my posts in July about my dog, Keene, you know she's my "baby" and I worry about her a lot. She's only 5 years old, but in the last year, she's aged a lot.

Well, since last Wednesday she's been vomiting, 8-10 hours after, every meal. So, after dinner, this means she's been waking up at 2 or 3 AM and needing to go out to puke. So, Richard and I haven't been sleeping well (Yes, I know this is getting us ready for when the baby comes.). I took her to the vet on Saturday and he said she had Bile Reflux, which is the bile in the intestines coming back up into the stomach, instead of going down. They gave us some anti-nausea medicine and sent us home.

From Saturday to Tuesday she continued to vomit after every meal, but now is wining a lot, drinking copious amounts of water, peeing like a race horse and just not acting herself. I took her to the vet and they evaluated her for a few hours and had me come back for her at 3 PM. The vet said she was just having a bad reaction to the anti-nausea medication.

On Tuesday night, we had gone to bed at around 9:30 PM and we were up with her from 10:30-12 and again from 2:30-4 as she wined, drank water, got sick and started shaking. I ended up sleeping on the floor with her so that she was comforted and finally fell asleep. Wednesday morning, my husband took her back to the vet and he said she was probably dehydrated and they would need to evaluate her for a couple days. They need to figure out what is really wrong, so that they can stop the vomiting.

She's only 5 years old, but we've had her since she was 6 weeks old. With little sleep over the last week, my mind thinks the worst and I worry about whether she will be ok.

The last three days have been very crazy, with multiple trips to the vet, taking sub days, worry and no sleep. I'm going to call the vet this afternoon at 2 PM to check on her.

My other dog, Menlo, hates being alone (barks a lot). I have him outside (in his dog run) right now, to see if he'll settle down enough, to leave him alone for a few hours tomorrow, while we are both at work. If not, I may have to take another sick day tomorrow.

I'm so sorry for your stress and worry! A few months ago I wouldn't be able to relate to this post, but now I truly can. I hope he feels and gets better soon!

I'm so sorry, Tracey. You know how well I understand. It hurts so much to see our "babies" hurting. I will pray for Keene and for you and Richard.

I pray that God will heal Keene quickly, and comfort you and Richard, and let you all 3 have a good, peaceful night of rest.

God Bless,
Amy:)

P.S. I have started your book. I am not very far into it, but I am already hooked. I will let you know when I finish it.

I'm so sorry that Keene is not well. I have fur babies too, but mine are entering their senior years. It always concerns me when they are sick, too. Your SBP

Sick pets make me so sad. I hope you discover the problem and the vet fixes it. So sorry.

Oh, we're going through kind of the same thing with our 12 year old dog. It sucks. I hope Keene gets better soon.
