Our trip to Jemez

Yesterday, we took a day trip to Jemez Springs.

Look at these amazingly, beautiful rock formations and of course my gorgeous husband. The pictures don't do either of them justice.

We had such a good time on the drive just talking and laughing. We stopped at the little cafe for a late breakfast and then at a winery on the way back.

Our second stop was the Soda Dam. The sign near it says, "This spectacular formation has built up over the centuries by deposits of calcium carbonate from a spring that bubbles to the surface at this point. The river flows under a dome that is still building. The dam is 300 feet long, 50 feet high and 50 feet wide at the bottom."

Then we stopped at a stream that had hiking trails leading up to a natural hot springs. They are clothing optional, so I can't show you pictures of the hot springs.

Then we stopped at the Gilman Tunnels. Isn't this cool! It was originally dug for the train to go through.

Here are some other points of interest, in case you ever get out this way.

I love this area...we go up a couple of times a year, too. We hiked to the hot springs one time, and you're so right...clothing is definitely optional. NOT for me, but there were plenty of other folks that were taking advantage of it.
