Adoption....is truly about love!

There was a very special story posted on FOR BIRTHMOTHERS BY BIRTHMOTHERS. With all the negativity some of us have felt directed at us about our adoptions, this will warm your heart.

Here are a couple quotes of how this birthmother feels:

"Often my heart longs for her and I miss her sweet vanilla smell and her big beautiful eyes, but I know in my heart that I did what was right for her. That sweet little angel deserved everything and I was not able to give that to her."

"I undoubtedly could have been a mother to her and never once through my soul searching thought I wasn't good enough, but I knew that in my arms was not the place she was meant to be."

YOU HAVE TO READ HER FULL STORY!

She ends her story with this quote from Orson F. Whtney, "No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude and humility. All that we suffer and all that we endure especially if we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called children of God."

GO READ IT NOW! IT WILL MAKE YOU DAY! GOD IS SO GOOD!

You agree that a mother is reducing herself to the label of "vessel" so that her child may be adopted and thusly indicate his adoption was done so that he was destined to be with his adoptive mother?

I do not disagree that good can come from bad things - particularly in adoption.

But I disagree on the idea that a woman is not "meant" to birth her own child. Why have one woman carry a child if a second woman is destined to be the child's mother by adoption?

Why not just have the second woman be the "birth mother"?

About the comment above...first you misquoted the quote....it started with this, "never once through my soul searching thought I wasn't good enough."

Second...I, nor the actual author of the original story....said that a woman was not meant to birth her own child. What about surrogates?

I don't claim to have all the answers, but I do know that there is a reason for everything in life including, one woman giving birth and deciding for whatever reason that she can't raise her child, so she then unselfishly chooses another woman, who for whatever reason can't birth her own children, to raise the child. We are meant to learn things from all the paths out lives take.

I wish it would be possible to hear this mom's feelings about losing a child to adoption 20 years from now.

Tracey, thanks for sharing that blog!!! Thank you! I will gain a lot from reading it, I'm sure.
There really are birthmothers out there that aren't angry, bitter, hateful, blameful, etc.!
