TWO SENSE TUESDAYS #18...Sitting up?

Being a new mother I seem to get a lot of advice, which can be helpful, but is also very frustrating when it's from people who are insistent that their way is the BEST way. I also get advice (because I'm an adoptive mother) from those who think that my son is just a stand-in until I get "the real thing."

Each week I will post a new question. I'd love it if you'd play along and offer us new mothers your pearls of wisdom.

HERE IS THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:

WHAT DO (DID) YOU DO TO HELP YOUR CHILD START SITTING UP?

Didn't really do anything specific I guess but Isabel's always had great strength in those areas. The Bumbo chair really helped I'm sure. Her thighs got too big too quickly for it though. :-)

Hmmm..I might be a bad mom to ask b/c Declan CRAWLED before he sat up unassisted. But, I did put the boppy around him while he played and it helped him get the hang of it. My son's just so strong willed it's like he just decided to do it one day and he did. :)

I've been wondering this with the baby here. He is 5 months old. We have a borrowed Bumpo chair and use it some.
Don't really remember with my other two. I have pictures of propping them up in a Boppy pillow or with reguler pillows all around. Didn't have the Bumpo chairs with my babies.
We're just trying to get rolling over done! Jaydon hasn't rolled over yet and I think my two did by this age??

I played a game with him. I sat him up across from me, and held his legs down gently with my legs while holding his arms out in front of him. I sang "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" while rocking us both forwards and backwards. He loved it, and it built up his core muscles. That, plus his love of tummy time, helped him sit up early.
