E is for...Easter

Easter symbolizes the eternal life that is granted to all who believe in Jesus Christ and is the complete verification of all that Jesus preached and taught during His short ministry. If He had not risen from the dead, He would have been considered just another Rabbi. However, His resurrection gave proof that He is the Son of God.

The feast day of Easter was originally a pagan celebration of renewal and rebirth, celebrated in spring. When the missionaries converted the Saxons to Christianity, they merged the pagan celebration with what would became know as Easter.

The rabbit was the most fertile animal known and served as a symbol of new life during the Spring season. Its origins are in Germany in the 1500's, but wasn't introduced to American folklore, by the German settlers who arrived in Pennsylvania Dutch country, until the 1700's. The first edible Easter bunnies were made in Germany during the early 1800's and were made of pastry and sugar. Children believed that if they were good, the bunny would lay a nest of colored eggs for them.

What better time then now to renew your relationship with Christ. If you have questions and want to talk with God, I recomment you read THE SHACK. It changed my life and my relationship with God.

HE IS RISEN!

(ps...I know on April 9th, I did "B" and next should come "C," but "E" fit with Easter. We'll do "C" next week.)
