Lemonade out of Lemons...

I had my yearly eye doctor appointment today. Dr. Q. is very nice and very cute! Generally these appointments are very uneventful. Just check that I know my alphabet from 20 feet away and walk out the door. Not today....

THE LEMONS:
Interesting realization number 1: apparently my glasses (I don't usually wear them except to read before bed, nor bring them with me...they are at least 6 years old) are 1 and 1/2 times stronger then what I need...no wonder they give me headaches. So instead of just paying for my contacts this year, I need to buy new glasses too. Thank God I can use the old frames and with 25% off, it's only going to be an extra $100.00

THE LEMONS:
Interesting realization number 2: I have cataracts in both eyes. I'M ONLY 40! There's a history of them in my family, but not at 40. Dr. Q. asked if I had been on any heavy medications in the last year.....hmmmm....

BINGO...fertility drugs!

Dr. Q. said I was probably always going to get cataracts, but that the drugs just sped up the process. The cataracts won't go away, but now that I'm off the drugs they probably won't get any worse, for some time, but they'll know better at my next year's appointment.

THE LEMONADE: Another reason to be happy about adopting...my poor eye sight will NOT be passed along!!

Sorry todays visit was so bittersweet. LOL! Sorry I couldn't resist...
I honestly had NO IDEA that fertility drugs (or any drugs) could do that. OUCH!

What a great outlook you have!
Lemonade tastes so much better than straight lemons, amen?;)

God Bless,

Not sure how I found your blog - I think I linked off someone else's adoption blog (we adopted our daughter 5 moonths ago)... Anyway - at least cateracts are VERY easy to remove!!!

I can't find my blog said...

Cataracts? That's crazy! Bet that wasn't on the list of side effects was it?

I went to the eye doctor this week too. Glasses for me. Imagine my surprise when he said bifocals. I haven't worn glasses in 10 years! Ouch!

I've always wondered what long term adverse effects fertility drugs could have. I'm sorry you are dealing with this!
