Parenting Classes...one step closer...

We started our adoptive parent training classes tonight. They'll be every Wednesday from 6:30-8:30, for 8 weeks. Tonight's topic was, "The Legal Process of Adoption." It was very informative and I liked that the 7 couples we were with, were all mixed, as far as how far along in the process they are. Most had just started the process, a couple were like us, waiting, and one couple had their baby with them.

It was so refreshing to be with people who all shared the same feelings and were so supportive. They said things like, "When is your baby due?" and "Is this your first?" It felt so right for the word "your" to be used. No one asked, "Why don't you try having your own child?" or "Did you try infertility treatments?" or "Do you know the real mom?"

Next week there will be a panel of Birth parents and Adoptive Parents telling their stories. My husband will be on the panel too, as an adult adoptee.

So exctitng! We LOVED our parenting classes. We met lots of people and we felt 100 times more comfortable with the process we were embarking on. It sounds like you are a little further along than we were, but I hope you get lots out of them!
