FLASHBACK FRIDAY #5...Be Honest With Yourself

Republished from February 4, 2008

Be Honest With Yourself

Stop making excuses. You will never ever fix your problems blaming someone else. You are responsible. There's a huge difference between blame and responsibility. To deserve blame, you must have intended your actions, or recklessly disregarded their consequences. Responsibility simply means that you are in control. You did or allowed to be done, whatever led to the outcome. You did make the choice and you did engage in the behaviors and therefore you and you alone are responsible for the results. Maya Angelou says, "You did what you knew how to do and when you knew better, you did better."

A positive attitude is essential to your growth and self-confidence. So is learning from our mistakes and recognizing that everything in life can be used as a lesson, once we are willing to be taught. If you think you can, you can. If you think you can't, you're right! Our subconscious mind cannot distinguish between what's real and what's imaginary. If we act as if we are confident, you become so. You must do the things you think you cannot do. Fears lead us to questions about ourselves. Our fears are a treasure-house of self knowledge, but only if we explore them honestly and openly, no matter what the outcome may be. Our unconscious assumptions generate attitudes and actions that influence our live in ways we may be completely unaware of. They shape our choices. Our beliefs frequently are based more on interpretation than on fact. Belief systems can also be created by fear. What beliefs are you holding on to even though they no longer enhance your life?
