A Successful Open House

We had open house tonight from 5-7 pm. I had 12 of my 21 students show up with their families. These are the things that we left out on their desks (click on picture to enlarge). The students ran the evening not me. They were the ones showing their parents around the room, explaining how things run and showing their parents their progress so far. I was just there to offer support and field any technical questions. The parents really enjoyed the night. It was well worth the effort.

Glad it went well. Sounds like a lot of fun to watch the kids show their parents around.

Nice job, teacher! I'm glad your kids and parents had such a good time.

Student-led conferences are the only way to go. I have found that once I started doing them, I will neve go back to the traditional parent-teacher format. Congrats on the great turn out :) It's tough getting parents to show up when the kids are older.
