NOT WITHOUT MY SISTER

I just finished reading an excellent book about the Children Of God cult. It was written by three sisters: Kristina, Celeste and Julian who were raised in the cult. You can visit their website here. It is certainly amazing that these three girls survived to tell their story.

I copied the description of the book from that website. It describes the book as the following:

"The devastating first-hand account of three sisters' courageous struggle to escape a perverse community that robbed them of their childhood. Celeste, Kristina and Juliana were born into a cult - The Children of God. But their experiences were a world away from the traditional Christian understanding of 'love' and 'forgiveness'. The organisation that was entrusted with their care practised physical and mental abuse, thought control, pornography, prostitution and sexual exploitation of children. The sisters were separated from each other and from their parents at an early age, living in communes with as many as 200 members in England, India and the Far East. They were denied access to formal schooling, forced to busk on the streets for money, and were mercilessly beaten for 'crimes' as unpredictable as reading an encyclopaedia. In Not Without My Sister, Celeste, Kristina and Juliana, relive their experiences of how they survived - and then escaped - a cult that has claimed the lives and innocence of thousands of its members. Theirs is a horrific story of perversion and loss but, ultimately, it is an account of immense love and immeasurable bravery."

This site contains information gathered about "The Family." Be warned...a lot of this is very sexually graphic.

This site is the official website of "The Family." They try to make it look like they are a mission group, dedicated to sharing the word of God, but if you look into their beliefs and founder, David Berg, you will see that that is not the case. They are definately NOT FROM GOD!

I'll have to add that one to my "to-read" list.
