Ten things I don't understand about blogging...CAN ANYONE HELP?

I'd appreciate any help that anyone could give me on these matters.

1. What the heck is "TWITTER?"

2. How do I change my template without destoying everything I've done?

3. How do I put a search box on my blog?

4. How do I use "Mr. Linky?"

5. What is RSS Feed?

6. How do I put ads on my blog?

7. I have sitemeter...but I still don't know exactly who visits my blog?

8. Some blogs have "Praying for..." wiggits on their sideboards...they are really pretty...I wish I knew how to get one.

9. I have an Amazon ad box, but how do I use it effectively?

10. All you stay at home moms, this is a question for you...I've been doing this just for fun, but I understand that you can actually make money doing this. How do you make money by blogging?

The only two I can help you with is the layout and sitemeter. If you want to change your layout with blogger go into your dashboard, clicl on pick new template..these are just plain basic templates. You can also change colors, fonts, layout arrangements. Just be sure to click save to save your changes. There are also other webstites you can use if you want a different look than what blogger offers...pyzamm is one and then of course you can do what I did and have someone create a design for you. Sitemeter: just click on the link and it will take you to the main sitementer page. i usually just look at "by loctaion" to see who visited that day. I also sometimes click on "who's on" to see who is actually visiting at that precise time. There is a great feed that I am interested in looking at where on your blog it lists who is on and where they are coming from. I will see if I can find it and let you know what it is. I hope this makes sense.Oh and with sitememter when you click on by locations if you click on the indvidual numbers next to the locationof the person who visited it will show how long they were on, what pages they viewed etc...

I can't help much Tracey, but...

Twitter is a social networking tool. You can register and then leave snippet like updates letting everybody know what you are doing at any given moment. People can "follow" you on Twitter and can comment on your "tweets." For instance, you post a tweet saying, "Cleaning the toilet right now. Isn't life grand?" And your friends can respond if they want to.

And RSS Feeds. It's just another means of subscribing to your blog. Sort of like bloglines but subscribers will have your posts emailed to their inboxes.

Okay, that is my understanding of those things. Can't help you with the rest.

#1 - I have NO idea...been meaning to look this up myself but just haven't had the time.

#2 - Call a blog designer and pay her money to redesign it for you. I'm getting mine done as we speak. ;-)

#3 - No idea

#4 - Go to this website there are full detailed instructions on posting Mr. Linkys - http://www.blenza.com/linkies/wizard.php

#5 & #6 - No idea

#7 - Not sure what you mean. If you log into your account you can see your visitors but if by "exactly" you mean names....you won't get the names of your visitors...just their locations.

I don't know that I can be of any more help than the other responses have been, but you should definitely check out twitter! I'm on it and it's a lot of fun...just an easy way to keep up with friends and let others know what you're up to.

As for the ads, check out www.adsense.com. This is google's method of helping bloggers advertise. You have to first create an adsense account and then add the adsense page element to your blog. Hope that helps!
