A-Z BLOGGING CHALLENGE: V is for VACATION

My summer vacation starts on May 30 and goes until around August 1st.

We will be spending a lot of time at the community pool (which has been doubled in size)! They also have a children's area and Sam LOVES the water.

There are a few projects I want to complete, which include: cleaning out the garage, paint touch-ups in the house, reorganizing the cabinets in the kitchen, spreading new rock in the back yard.....and....POTTY TRAINING SAM!!!

Another great portion of our summer will be spent at the Zoo, Botanical Park and Aquarium. We bought a Family Fun Pass that gets us in to all the attractions for a year. We can go as often as we want and stay as long as we want. Last year we only went once because, after paying to get in, we felt (to get our money's worth) we needed to stay all day and we were totally wiped out by the time we left. This way we can go for 1 hour, 2 hours or whatever and just hit the parts we like and come back again another day and see something else. There are also concerts at night, which are a lot of fun.

July 4th is always a fun time for our family. We go to small town, near Albuquerque, and have breakfast, watch the parade, meet up with friends for lunch and then watch the fireworks at night, with all the families that live in our cul-de-sac.

On July 12th Richard and I will celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary!

The next day, I will be leaving for a short trip back to New Hampshire for my Dad's burial, where he will receive full military honors. I'll only be there for a long weekend, but I am excited to see a lot of family and friends too. It should be a great celebration!

Another exciting event will be Sam starting PRESCHOOL! That will be on July 24th. I want to start him a couple days early, before I have to go back to work, so I can spend the day with him, if necessary.

I can get back into school on August 1st to start organizing my classroom, but it remains to be seen where exactly that will be. I am trying to get hired at one of the elementary schools closer to home, but if there aren't any positions open, then I will stay at the middle school that I am at now. I'll keep you updated as to how this process progresses. Wish me luck!

Richard only has Wednesdays and every other Sunday off, so we are planning our family trips for those days. We want to take Sam hiking, to his first movie at a theatre and ride the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad. We also want to take some day trips to: Madrid, Santa Fe, and Acoma Pueblo.

Sounds like a pretty full summer to me!

Normally we stay close to home in the summers, as we both work FT. But this year, we're heading to NC and I am heading to FL with just the kids. Then in October it's a week in NH.

I'll need another vacation come November.

Hello again! Living in Massachusetts, we do NH quite often considering. My cousin's getting married at a hotel near Salem NH, which makes TOTAL sense since we all live on the cape/ South Shore (as does she) and the rest of the family is in New Jersey. (rolls eyes) So we've decided to take a vacation and turn it into a 4 day fest, we're thinking the mining thing (so technical I know). We have done Canobie 2X, Nascar in Louden X4, the Hillsboro balloon launch and county fair, and last year did a murder mystery dinner for my birthday at Castle in the Clouds. (Which was amazing by the way)

I'd love to know what you'd suggest, as we are always looking for something different. Email me if you think of anything julianna.survivingboys@gmail.com

I think the NH event will be a wonderful one, too. We'll head out for at least a week. A splurge, for sure!

Looking forward to seeing how the school thing works out for you.
