THE EYES HAVE IT!

A big thank you to all the wonderful nurses and doctors at UNM CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL. Sam had his eye surgery yesterday morning and we were home by around 11 a.m.

Sam wasn't too pleased to have to put on the over-sized pajamas, or the looks of this thing...

....and honestly, who can blame him. I wouldn't want to be in that thing either, but once they gave Sam some "happy juice," so that he would separate from us without crying, all went smoothly. THAT STUFF IS AMAZING!

Waking up from the anesthesia DID NOT go so smoothly. He was VERY WOOZY and cried a lot. He wanted to rub his eye, which is very blood shot right not, and got VERY ANGRY when I wouldn't let him, but a little more "happy juice" and 2 popsicles later and we were ready to got home.

The ride went well and he actually ate when we got home. We have a check-up appointment at 11:15 today, but all seems to be going fine so far.

I got the first eye drop in last night because he didn't know what was coming. By late afternoon/early evening time, he was up and running, although a little less balanced, which they said to expect. I am hoping his balance is better today.

Thanks for all the prayers, calls and love!

Yes, thanks for the update, Tracey. Sounds like it was about a smooth as it could be, given that it's a operation on the eyes! Sounds like Sam is a real trooper (and his parents too).
