WE CALL IT "CHARACTER"

We live in a very funky house. This is one of the rooms that was added after the original structure. We pulled up the carpeting (over 35 years old and needed redoing....reason coming in a later post) and this is what we found underneath.
Half was this green tile and half was just plywood. We lived with the floor like this for over a month while we waited for an install date.
This is the hallway that leads off this room and it also had carpeting.
Most of the floor looked great, but in this area it was three different shades.
Not sure why this one area was patched, but they used shingles.
Here is the new carpeting going in.
Finally, the room is back together!
Also in our basement, near that light you see on....is this.....
Yes, that's a doll head. We are guessing an old doll lamp was taken apart and repurposed.
My husband also painted our kitchen floor. Which is laminate, but very old and dirty. We were too scared to pull it up. We worried about cost and there is no telling what the subfloor would look like. So he covered it first with a white base coat and then he used gray deck paint. To looks like concrete now. I love it.
