EVALUATING THE TEACHER

This is how we will be evaluated this year. Click on the picture to see it full size.

35% from student growth on the end of year SBA
15% from student growth on the DBA now called the CCIA
25% from 3 observations from the principal (Domains 2: Creating an Environment for Learning and Domain 3: Teaching for Learning)
15% from 2 observations from the principal (Domain 1: Planning and Preparing and Domain 4: Professionalism)
10% Teacher Attendance (10 days absent or less)

Each of the domains listed above has 5 subgroups under it which we are then rated as to whether we are: Exemplary, Highly Effective, Effective, Minimally Effective or Ineffective.

Then at the end of the year we will be sent OUR individual report card in the mail.

As a teacher, this scares the bejeezus out of me. Evaluate us on things that are in our control, but so much of our students' lives are not in our power to control. We are not responsible to make sure they come to school fed, well rested and stress free. When we live in a perfect little world where parents actually do their job consistently, then evaluate us on their test scores. I'm curious.... what's your opinion about this?
