I agree with you totally. Research and experienced parents all show that immediate direct consequences are the most effective method of discipline. Bringing in parents to classroom situations escalates the problem instead of stopping it before it becomes an issue. Your classroom was (and is I'm sure) always one of great discipline enabling and encouraging students to learn and to do the work required of them. Wish I could help.
