LIFE IS A PROJECT....BUT...

PREFACE: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE BEING A MOMMY! I am actually much more relaxed then I have ever been....FAMILY...stop laughing...YES I AM! Anyway...my house is not as clean as I would like it to be and everything takes twice as long to get done....I understand...my life is changed and the projects will have to wait....life IS a project and there will always be something more to do. I do get it, but it still doesn't keep me from being frustrated that I can't get it ALL done.

Sarah at THIFTY DECOR CHICK is amazing! I don't know how she does it. There is always a project going on. She has a family and kids, but always has time for the projects AND COMPLETES THEM. I love projects. I am very creative and would love to spend my time doing them, but with a full time job and raising a 2 year old, I feel like my projects just keep building up and building up. Where do I start...

...This is my "SEWING ROOM." Yah, I know...I call it that because it sounds good, but not much sewing goes on, considering my sewing machine is in the closet and you can barely see the table it is suppose to sit on.

I would LOVE to have a wall of shelves in my SEWING ROOM. I'm actually a very organized person and having this stuff everywhere in this room drives me nuts. It's really the catch all room for everything that doesn't go somewhere else.

Most people in our neighborhood don't park their cars in their garages because they don't have a room like this. This is the only room I allow to look cluttered (I close the door.) and keeping the cars in the garage keeps me from becoming a pack rat. Anyway...getting back to my point...

Along with storing stuff: bread to be dried for stuffing...

....toys, school books, Christmas presents, fans, games, a reading program for preschoolers, decorations, furniture, extra food and supplies...

....and Sam's high chair and stroller that Richard doesn't want us to part with yet, because, "You are only 42 years old, Dear, and technically we could still get pregnant." The man still has hope...isn't that sweet.....aaaahhhhhh....

...there are multiple, unfinished projects that are kept here......

....the doll house I started in 2006. You can see the roof isn't done and I still need to add the porch, curtains and do touch ups on the paint. It's fully furnished and I love it. It was A LOT of work, but really, now that I have a son (....most likely an only child...), what the heck do I do with it?

Then there is the hot air balloon, mobile project sitting in this bag....

...and the outfit for Sam's Christmas pictures waiting to be worn.

In this closet I have wreaths waiting to be made, a book waiting to be written, blankets waiting to sewn, and pictures waiting to be hung. As you might notice, the door is only halfway open because of all the other stuff in the way...ugghh.

There are other projects in other rooms too...the garage that needs shelves organized and actually a garage that needs more shelves.....

....a dog kennel (just in case we ever get another puppy...ha ha ha ha ha ha....I told Richard that "We" can get another puppy when he's retired....("We" means I do all the work.....I figured out that code word very early in our marriage.) and Christmas decorations waiting to be hung...

....a clothes closet that needs a major going over....ugghh.....

.....and a laundry room that needs a curtain to cover this stuff...what an eye-sore....cabinets are my dream.

Nate Berkus has a show that I am starting to get hooked on. A few days ago they had a show about CLUTTER PERSONALITY TYPES. There are five types: easily distracted, procrastinators, bargain shoppers, sentimentalist, and perfectionist.

Although I love things that people hand make for me, I am NOT a sentimentalist clutter person. If I love it I keep it, if not it will end up "regifted" (YES, FOLKS REGIFTING IS OK, IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WILL WANT WHAT YOU ARE GIVING THEM AND YOU ARE HONEST ABOUT IT....but that is for another post!) or donated.

I am also not a procrastinator clutter person. LAZY was always a four letter word growing up, in our house, so no moss grows on me. I go through my piles quite often and get rid of things that are obvious.

I think I am the EASILY DISTRACTED/PERFECTIONIST: I have so much to do, that I don't know where to start and then if I can't have it perfect I don't want to begin.

As I said...I LOVE PROJECTS....my husband...NOT SO MUCH! So we are going to start taking one room at a time.......just like we did when we painted, when we first moved in...and go through it, as Mom would say, WITH A FINE TOOTH COMB!

Then maybe all the extra stuff that I am storing will finally have a home. Only the stuff we LOVE will be displayed, the things my husband we haven't used in 7 years can be donated and maybe the shelving units I DESPERATELY want will materialize.
