Mash that for me Mama!
Ok, blogger buddies...I've hit a speed bump!
Samuel will NOT eat anything that is beyond pudding consistency or level 3 baby food. Believe me I will ask my pediatrician for advice on our next visit, December 11, but for now I'm interested in you ideas.
He likes most baby foods. He'll eat all fruit, oatmeal, beans, potatoes, squash, ham, chicken, rice and pasta and yogurt. He hates turkey and peas. A lot of these are level 2 foods, because when you get to some of the level 3 foods they have little chunks in them. He gags very easily and once that happens, he refuses to finish the meal.
I've tried to give him a little piece of banana, less than 1/2 the size of the nail on my pinky, but no deal. Chewing is just not something he's figured out yet.
The 4 lower front teeth have already come in and the 2 top front teeth are coming in now. I know it hurts him some, but if I give him his favorite foods he'll eat, so the only thing I come back to is the consistency factor.
I know all kids develop differently and I'm guessing he will just take a little more time to start eating normal food. Otherwise, we'll have the first college student eating mashed everything!
This post is now open for your advice.....

I agree with you assessment...it's a texture thing. I don't know the answer, except to give it more time. Of course our situation is different than yours, but it took us FOREVER to eat regular food. She probably had 8 teeth before she ate regular food, but I honestly don't remember. We just took it slow, which is apparently what she needed.
