Remember yesterday I posted this about possibly staying home with Samuel. Well, after only one day, I don't see it happening.
I spoke with the retirement board and I'm not even eligible until I've taught for 25 years, which is only 7 years away, but I would lose out if I retired now. If only we had started by living off of one income.
The $1000 I said that my husband gets is gross. Net is more like $750.
The other medical insurance company is not any less then what we are paying now.
We're going to continue to look into reducing all of our other bills, as this is one of our goals for this year, but I think me staying home is now a pipe dream.

I'm sorry, but keep praying about it. God is into doing the impossible!:)

Amy:)
I'm sorry. Like Amy said...with God all things are possible.
We're in the same boat. It's a pipe dream. A few years ago when we moved into our lovely, wonderful house I knew that was a sacrafice I would have to make...but I didn't have a baby at the time and didn't REALLY think about it!
But God will provide, and who knows what will happen! In the meantime, find peace in your child care decision and know it's the right thing! Samuel will be well-taken care of.
And just count the days until he starts recognizing when you come home and how excited he will be: that face will be priceless each and every day!
Sorry!
You wouldn't have to retire and start drawing tho, right? I just quit and left my teacher retirement in and would start paying back in when I return.
You were wanting to officially retire to get the benefits now??
Loss of me carrying my own insurance really hurt us too. Our district's plan is not that great for hubby to carry all of us but, we had to buck up and do it.
Kee praying for God's wisdom and direction. I'm glad you have someone good lined up to care for Sam if you can't! Just remember that the transition will be on hard on you so, don't put too much pressure on yourself! The time that you are home with him, spend that time with him! The rest will always be there!
Tracey - I know how you feel - it's tough, but it does work. Praying for you!
You would be amazed at how much you can reduce your phone bill to. We only pay $10.00 for a home line. No bells or whistles and we don't need long distance since we have our cells. Cutting back on tv channels is another easy way to reduce spending. Talking to your credit card companies about reducing any interest is another great way to help. Although not allowing them to earn any interest is best. I'm a total coupon girl when eating out or shopping. My sister and brother in law live on one teacher's salary. IF they can do it you can too. Maybe you could work longer days for less days away from home. Hope a few of these suggestions help even a little.
So sorry it doesn't seem to be achievable right now. But you know what you want to work towards.
I hope your dream can become reality sooner rather then later. But at least there is something to look forward to in 7 short years.
I'm sorry :-(
