I found this SCARY article written by MEREDITH KOLODNER at THE NY DAILY NEWS.
This is the cafeteria in a public school in New York. Your tax dollars at work. No really, "60 staff and 120 children were allowed to stay in the site until the end of the summer session last week." Read the article. This is totally appalling!
I love teaching and I love kids, so I'm not going to sugar coat it to make our failing system look better, just because they pay my salary. The entire public education system in America needs a major overhaul. Come on, all you politicians, you want my vote...talk about something that REALLY matters. What are you going to do about this?

I just found out that the reason I have received no newsletters or back to school paper work for my kids' school is because the teachers have no contract right now and are going to be possibly striking...
*sigh*
