FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL PLAN

Here is my "plan" for the first day of school, but you know the old saying, "If you want to hear God laugh, tell him your plans." So, we'll have to see how it goes and how many times I rethink/change this before the first day gets here (August 13). 

7:50-8:15 OPENING/ORGANIZING
·      Students take their seats.
·      ANNOUNCEMENTS AND PLEDGE
·      HAND IN: tissue, glue, white copy paper, lined paper, hand sanitizer, white board, pencils (keep 1) dry erase markers, paper towels, ziplocs, hand soap.
·      PUT FOLLOWING IN CADDY: ruler, scissors, 5 glue sticks, 5 dry erase markers.
·      PUT IN PENCIL POUCH: crayons, highlighters, colored pencils, calculator, pencil sharpener.
·      Put your name on all folders and notebooks.
·      Put name on agenda and binder
·      TRUTH/TRUTH/LIE CARD (used for brain break throughout the day)

8:15-8:30 TOUR OF ROOM

8:30-9:00 ROTATIONS
(1)   NAME CARD
(2)   MISTAKES PAPER
(3)   SCAVENGER HUNT
(4)   MISSION STATEMENT
(5)   I AM A ______ 5TH GRADER
(6)   TRY TO LOGIN TO COMPUTERS
(7)   I TAKE PHOTO OF KIDS

9:00 TOUR OF BUILDING AND POTTY BREAK

9:15-9:30 Take Home Stuff/Write in Agenda
·      TAKE HOME FOLDER WITH THINGS TO BE SIGNED
·      READING LOG
·      BROWN BAG

9:30-10:00 Math Interactive Notebooks Set-Up

10:00-10:30 WHOLE BRAIN INTRODUCTION
·      5 RULES
·      CLASS/YES
·      SCOREBOARD
·      TEACH/OK

10:30-11:00 ELA Interactive Notebook Set-Up

11:00-11:10 PLAYGROUND RULES

11:10-11:30 RECESS

11:30-11:45 WBT RULES REVIEW

12:00-12:30 LUNCH

12:30-1:15 WBT RULES REVIEW

1:15-1:45 10-MINUTE WRITING
“What I learned today.”

1:00-2:00 COMPUTER LAB
If we have computer lab (meaning all their logins worked this morning) go over:
·      Open word document
·      Cut/paste and saving documents
·      Internet etiquette
·      School/class website
·      Where to find games/programs
·      IXL Math
·      Kahoot It

1:45 END OF DAY DISMISSAL ROUTINE
Clean up room, get backpacks, review what is due tomorrow, put up chairs, line up.
